Emeril Lagasse Foundation

An educational cooking concert hosted by Chef Emeril Lagasse and jazz man Wynton Marsalis.

 

 

 

 

 

On Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the pair of nationally renowned personalities in their own fields, but with roots in New Orleans, educated and entertained on the cultural similarities and creativity involved in both the culinary and musical artforms. The program was free of charge for 4,000 school children in the New Orleans area.

Cookin’ with Music was a fun-focused event that kicked-off the school year for the community’s students on a positive note. Lagasse and Marsalis came together to develop a unique stage performance that shared their love and knowledge of their crafts with the children of the New Orleans metropolitan area. The pair explored themes from fundamentals to rhythms and finally, improvisation. They encouraged kids to get creative in the kitchen and the classroom.
