Emeril’s Grand Bam

grand-bamA charity event benefiting Emeril Lagasse Foundation, featuring Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick

The Emeril Lagasse Foundation is proud to announce that $150,000 was raised from Emeril’s Grand Bam!, a charity tennis exhibition match between seven-time Grand Slam winner, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist and #5 ranked player in the world Andre Agassi and 2003 U.S. Open Champion, ATP Masters Champion, and #1 ranked player in the world Andy Roddick. Thanks to a longtime friendship between Chef Emeril Lagasse and Andre Agassi, the exhibition made a positive impact on the city of New Orleans as a local youth outreach program to benefit two thousand school students of public, private and parochial schools in Orleans, Jefferson and surrounding parishes.

Proceeds from the event benefitted youth initiatives and programs throughout the New Orleans community.

Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick competed in a best of 3 sets match, featuring Emeril Lagasse as emcee, retired pro Luke Jensen as announcer, entertainment by Rebirth Brass Band, and an opening doubles match with the two top junior players in the state, Melissa Mang and Taylor Folgelman.

2000 tickets were distributed free of charge to local schools, grades 6-12. Student group tickets were distributed to Orleans and Jefferson Parish public schools through their district athletic departments. The Archdiocese of New Orleans middle and high school tickets were distributed through the Office of Catholic Schools. Additional private schools in the area also received youth tickets.

$100 Floor and Box Seat Tickets sold out in less than 24 hours from the on-sale date, $40 tickets were also available. A special VIP ticket was sold for $300, which included a box seat and a pass to a reception held immediately following the match in the Coker Ballroom of the Municipal Auditorium, with music by Kermit Ruffins, champagne, and food by NOLA restaurant.
