Liberty’s Kitchen Cafe and Coffeehouse
Liberty’s Kitchen is an innovative, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth by building self-sufficiency and independent living in a supportive community where they learn life, social and employability skills in a culinary setting. Liberty’s Kitchen supports its programs with teaching-focused businesses: a working cafe and coffee house (located at 422½ S. Broad St. in New Orleans), catering business, and contract food services. These businesses are designed to give students practical experience while helping to sustain programs.
Since the beginning of the 2010 school year, Liberty’s Kitchen has been serving nutritious meals with fresh, local ingredients to the students of New Orleans College Prep Charter School. This program provides additional experiential training for our students in a commercial kitchen setting. Liberty’s Kitchen continues to seek out expansion opportunities through contract meal programs to more schools, childcare centers, homeless shelters, and programs for the elderly.
