World-renowned celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse was recently recognized with the 2018 Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement in Hospitality Award, honoring his celebrated culinary achievements and philanthropic efforts throughout his life.
Presented by the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, the distinction is awarded to a member of the hospitality industry who leads through exceptional leadership, philanthropy work and extensive personal and professional achievements. With this award, Emeril joins the ranks of past recipients including legends Chef Leah Chase, Chef Paul Prudhomme, Bill Goldring, Ralph Brennan, Ron Forman and Drago and Klara Cvitanovich.
An ambassador, mentor and philanthropist, Chef Emeril is the embodiment of a leader in hospitality. By using his name and culinary expertise, he’s relentlessly given back to the community throughout his career.
Chef Emeril calls upon his years working alongside Ella Brennan herself, establishing his career as a restauranteur and carrying that experience into his work mentoring and guiding underprivileged youth through his namesake non-profit, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation.
The effects are far-reaching, with international restaurants and Foundation beneficiaries throughout New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and beyond.
Since our founding in 2002, his Foundation has granted more than $9.5 million to numerous children’s charities to support culinary, nutrition and arts programs. Last year alone, the Foundation has donated over $1.8 million to 36 deserving non-profit organizations that support our mission of inspiring, mentoring and enabling youth to reach their fullest potential.
