Meet Our 2017 Spring Grants Recipients: Fort Lauderdale

Last month, we introduced you to our spring grant recipients in New Orleans. This month, we are excited to feature our spring grant recipients in Fort Lauderdale. In support of our mission to create opportunities to inspire, mentor and enable youth to reach their fullest potential, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation is proud to announce the distribution of $120,000 to two inspiring organizations in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida community.

At a special reception honoring our Fort Lauderdale beneficiaries, the Foundation presented $60,000 grants to Dan Marino Foundation and Arc Broward for special initiatives and programs that improve the lives of those with developmental disorders and other life challenges. Get to know these two organizations and the programs that the Foundation’s grants will support.

  • Dan Marino Foundation – For over 25 years, The Dan Marino Foundation has been recognized as a leader for empowering the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities In January 2017, The Dan Marino Foundation opened the second Marino Campus at Florida International University, Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The grant from the Foundation will go toward the program, which features a curriculum designed to build the necessary skills for gainful, competitive employment, social competence and independent living.

  • Arc Broward – For 60 years Arc Broward has been a catalyst for transformation by changing how people with developmental disabilities are embraced and included enabling them to live, learn, work and play in their communities. The Foundation’s grant will aid Arc Broward’s mission-based enterprises and certificate programs including Arc Culinary which provides education for essential skills needed to succeed in a professional kitchen and culinary career.

Both organizations hold similar missions of transforming their community by providing opportunities for people with disabilities and other life challenges to reach their full potential. In order to do this, they rely heavily on charitable giving. Support from organizations like the Emeril Lagasse Foundation help charities like Arc Broward and Dan Marino Foundation increase programming and continue to provide crucial services to program participants.

With the Foundation’s footprint expanding into Fort Lauderdale, my wife Alden and I are honored to be able to give back to the deserving causes that make such an impact in this community,” says Chef Emeril Lagasse. “Both organizations’ missions are very important to us and we’re thankful to all our generous donors and community members who made this possible.

Distributed to Florida, Texas and New Orleans beneficiaries, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation is proud to provide more than $725,000 in spring grants to organizations making life-changing impact in their communities. Learn more about the causes making a difference here.
