When Values Lead the Way: Williams Sonoma’s Investment in the Next Generation of Culinary Leaders

Food carries culture, memory, and the stories of the people who make it. This belief sits at the heart of the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund and is what brought Williams Sonoma to the table.

Williams Sonoma, a longtime leader in the kitchen and home space, has built a strong collaboration with Chef Aarón Sánchez over the years. Most recently, that partnership brought Chef Aarón’s line of signature sauces and spices to Williams Sonoma customers, creating an opportunity to build on that work in a more meaningful way.

As the partnership continued to grow, supporting the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship became a natural next step.

“Our relationship with Aarón Sánchez has always been grounded in a shared belief that food has the power to connect people, celebrate culture, and create opportunity,” Kristin Perrakis, Vice President of Marketing, shared. “Supporting this program was an opportunity to invest in young people with passion and potential and help create meaningful pathways into the culinary world.”

For Williams Sonoma, supporting the next generation of culinary talent is a cornerstone of its brand. For more than 70 years, the company has been dedicated to equipping kitchens and inspiring the people in them – making the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship’s focus on identity and heritage a natural fit.

“We were moved by how deeply the scholarship is connected to culture. Food is such a powerful expression of heritage and supporting young chefs as they bring their own perspectives, traditions, and stories into the culinary world feels both meaningful and important.”

That belief became action. Williams Sonoma made its first-ever gift to the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund, a program of Emeril Lagasse Foundation, funding the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship for young aspiring chefs to attend culinary school.

The Aarón Sánchez Scholarship goes beyond tuition. It provides mentorship, career guidance, and sustained support that helps young people navigate a path into the culinary industry – developing future chefs, leaders, and creators who will go on to influence others.

For a company whose values have long centered on the future of food and the people who shape it, this investment reflects a broader commitment to supporting emerging talent and strengthening the culinary industry.

As Jennifer Killian, Director of the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund, shared,

“Williams Sonoma’s support is a reminder of what’s possible when a company leads with its values. This gift sends a message to a young person that the culinary world is ready for them, and that people they’ve never met are rooting for their success. That’s the kind of partnership that changes lives.”

This gift reflects a shared belief in what food can do – bring people together and create opportunity. Through its support of the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund, Williams Sonoma is helping open doors for the next generation of culinary leaders and investing in a future shaped by talent, culture and possibility.
